The Start of a New Life

Confidence doesn’t always arrive with a bold entrance. Sometimes, it builds quietly, step by step, as we show up for ourselves day after day. It grows when we choose to try, even when we’re unsure of the outcome. Every time you take action despite self-doubt, you reinforce the belief that you’re capable. Confidence isn’t about having all the answers — it’s about trusting in the process, knowing that you can figure it out along the way, and having faith that God is always available for YOU.

Becoming Intentional About the Life You Create

There comes a point in life when simply going through the motions is no longer enough.

You may not be unhappy. You may even have accomplished many of the things you once dreamed about. You’ve built a career, raised a family, overcome challenges, checked boxes, met expectations, and learned how to survive more than a few unexpected chapters.

And yet, somewhere inside, there is a quiet voice asking:

Is this the life I truly want—or simply the life I’ve become accustomed to living?

I know that feeling.

I know what it feels like to want something more—not simply a change of scenery, but a life that feels more intentional, more connected, and more aligned with who you are and who you’re becoming.

For me, that desire eventually led across an ocean and ultimately to Benin Republic, West Africa.

But what I discovered along the way was that changing my location was only part of the journey.

The greater transformation was changing me.

More Than a Move

Creating a new life abroad gave me an opportunity to look at my life differently.

I began asking myself questions that many of us are often too busy to ask.

What does success mean to me now?

What do I value at this stage of my life?

What am I willing to release?

What do I want more of?

What kind of relationships, experiences, work, community, freedom, peace, and purpose do I want surrounding me?

And perhaps most importantly:

What is my purpose? and Who am I becoming?

Those questions changed everything.

My journey became less about leaving one place and moving to another and much more about consciously deciding how I wanted the next chapter of my life to look and feel.

That experience inspired me to create The Curated Life.

Because I realized that we curate so many things.

We curate our homes.
Our wardrobes.
Our playlists.
Our social media feeds.
Our travel experiences.

Yet how often do we intentionally or purposefully curate our lives?

What Does It Mean to Curate Your Life?

To curate your life is to become an active participant in creating it.

It means recognizing that while we cannot control everything that happens to us, we can become much more intentional about the choices we make, the environments we create, the people we allow into our lives, the opportunities we pursue, and the beliefs we carry forward.

Curating your life requires self-awareness.

It requires being willing to examine what still fits—and what doesn't.

Sometimes growth means adding something new.

Sometimes it means letting something go.

Sometimes it means changing careers, starting a business, relocating, traveling, learning a new skill, rebuilding your confidence, creating healthier boundaries, finding community, or finally pursuing the dream you've talked yourself out of for years.

And sometimes the transformation is much quieter.

It is simply deciding:

I want to live differently.

That decision can become the beginning of everything.

Confidence Is Built, Not Given

One of the greatest lessons I've learned is that confidence doesn't always arrive with a bold entrance.

Sometimes confidence builds quietly, in the midst of those moments you feel most unsure about.

Step by step.

Decision by decision.

It grows every time you show up for yourself.

Every time you try something you weren't completely sure you could do.

Every time you walk into an unfamiliar room, learn something new, recover from disappointment, speak up for yourself, or take another step despite the voice whispering, What if this doesn't work?

Confidence isn't having all the answers.

It's trusting God and yourself enough to believe:

I'll figure it out. God won’t let me down.

There have been many moments in my own journey when I didn't know exactly how everything would unfold. Moving abroad certainly didn't come with a perfectly written instruction manual.

I had to learn.

Adjust.

Observe.

Ask questions.

Make mistakes.

Try again.

And grow.

That is what personal development actually looks like.

It isn't always glamorous.

But it is powerful.

Beloveds, whether you’re working toward a personal milestone, a professional dream, or a major life pivot… progress comes from showing up — not perfectly, but persistently and purposefully. Action creates clarity, and over time, those steps forward add up to something real.
